For artist J.W. Pippen, sometimes “just being” is all you need.

Vanessa Wilson created this video over the summer after meeting the ever amusing, JW Pippen. Since then, every time it’s been viewed his don’t-give-a-shit demeanor evokes laughter and exclamations of “I want to meet him!”
The unconventionally charming Pippen is a Los Angeles based artist whose studio is above Angel City Brewery in the Arts District. The installation you see him assembling in the video is a 7-foot samurai composed of barrel staves from the barrels used to create Angel City’s newest brew. Pippen’s samurai sculpture and Angel City’s brew will both debut Thursday, November 20th from 6pm to 9pm at Angel City Brewery.
